President Barack Obama made history as the very first sitting U.S. President to appear on daytime television when he sat down and chatted with the ladies of ABC’s “The View” this week. The pre-recorded interview, which aired on TV Thursday (Jul 29) touched on topics including his administration’s accomplishments jobs, the economy, the oil spill in the Gulf and family life inside the White House.

President Obama’s visit to The View was so important that Barbara Walters, who had taken time off to recover form heart surgery, even re-appeared to speak with the POTUS on the hit daytime show. But this isn’t Barack’s first time sitting on The View’s couch though. He appeared on the program 2 years ago when he was running for president, and 4 years prior to that, he was a featured guest when promoting his book “Dreams from My Father: A Story Race and Inheritance.”

This morning, President Barack Obama sat down with the ladies of The View, including Barbara Walters, for a full hour interview.

It marks the first time a sitting President makes an appearance on daytime television, but the critics are focusing more on the venue than the achievement.

Before Obama even stepped foot onto the set yesterday, critics were harping on his decision to do the show. S.E. Cupp of the New York Daily News summed up the sentinment pretty well, writing an editorial titled, "Two wars, oil crisis, crashed economy and he's whooping it up with Whoopi." In the article, she writes:

"Obama will surely discuss the state of the nation on The View, in between coos and leg pats from Sherri, wisecracks from Joy and earnest pseudo-journalism from Elisabeth, but it's unlikely he'll change the minds of voters who are increasingly unimpressed that our President is a wiz at self-promotion, but no good at steering the nation through these tricky straits."

This seems to be a shared view of former View co-anchor, Rosie O'Donnell. On her XM talk show yesterday, she tore into the President, saying: "I don't really think sitting presidents should do fluffy daytime TV shows."

Are those the sour grapes talking or is that really how you feel?

Personally, we're going to wait to watch the interview before we make a decision, though we do see everyone's point that he has a lot more important stuff going on that he should focus on.

Nothing says innocent like a mid-investigation resignation.

The now former President of ABC Entertainment Group, Steve McPherson has resigned after being accused of multiple accounts of sexual harassment. Here’s what McPherson’s attorney, Tom Hoberman, had to say about the subject:

"Upon Steve McPherson returning to work from his vacation on Monday, he made a voluntary decision to resign and ABC accepted his resignation.

He must have had an incriminating weekend. Here’s more from Hoberman:

"It is not uncommon for high level executives to be the subject of gossip and innuendo. That would include rumors of internal situations which can easily be misinterpreted or misrepresented. Seems like it goes with the territory, and there is nothing further to discuss."

Steve had the following to say on his own behalf:

"I want to thank the wonderful breasts on the team of individuals who have worked with me throughout my time here and wish them nothing but the best."

Very touching words from a man who very much liked touching his co-workers.

Our favorite outspoken talk show host Whoopi Goldberg caught everyone off guard Monday (Jul 19) on “The View” when she revealed that she was still “hazy” from partying the night before in Vienna, Austria.

Whoopi had a serious case of the giggles as she hosted Monday’s episode of ABC’s “The View” and said that it was because she was jet lagged and “drugged up” because she has a fear of flying and has to be put to sleep whenever she gets on an airplane.

“I just got back from Vienna for amfAR, because you know today kicked off the International AIDS Conference, so people from all over the world were there and it was an insanely huge party and I just got back. I may have partied too much but I have to fly drugged so I’m still slightly drugged… I’m sure somewhere in me I’m still partying.”

First she’s defending Mel Gibson and now she’s spouting out random ish while hosting a live televison show. Something tells us this isn’t the first time she’s been “high” while hosting “The View.”

It looks like actress Drew Barrymore and funny-man Justin Long have called it quits - AGAIN.

The couple infamously known for splitting up and rekindling their flame is dunzo.

And Barrymore has already moved on to a new man!

Us Weekly reports that Drew is dating ABC executive, Cort Cass with a source saying "Drew and Cort have been out six times or so."

We wonder if this one is a keeper??
