Ever since Paula Abdul showed up to the season finale of this year’s “American Idol” to give Simon Cowell a farewell speech that sounded like someone’s drunk relative grabbing the microphone at a wedding, people have been talking about the possibility of her returning to the show. According to the latest rumor, Paula wants to come back, but the producers of her new dance reality show aren’t letting her.

American Idol producers, fearing a ratings crash now that Simon Cowell’s gone buh-bye, negotiated furiously to bring ex-judge Whack-a-Doodle back next year as a guest mentor after viewers cheered her on the season finale, and Paula accepted! But producers of Paula’s new show, “Got to Dance,” immediately barked, “Not so fast.” Why? Although Paula’s contract doesn’t prohibit her from appearing on another network, it does clearly state that she can’t appear opposite “Dance.” The “Dance” guys are hoping to attract viewers fed up with “Idol” now that Simon’s gone, and figure they might suck them in by slotting Paula’s show opposite “American Idol.” Bottom line? Paula cannot accept an offer from “American Idol” unless and until “Got to Dance” decides not to put their show opposite “Idol.” Said Paula: Waaaaaahhhhhh! When will that be? (Or words to that effect.) “We’ll let you know,” said her Dance masters. Stay tuned.

Who would have thought that Paula Abdul would become such a hot commodity on television? I don’t get it. She’s barely able to speak in complete sentences. What kind of advice is she going to offer as a “Guest Mentor?” The only entertaining part of Paula’s time on the show was her incoherent bickering with Simon. But a lot of people love her, and the show did slip a bit in the ratings this past season, so I guess it makes sense that they’d want her back in some capacity. But her real area of expertise is dance- not singing. So maybe she should focus on this new show and let “Idol” continue to be a sinking ship.

Beyonce, Jay-Z, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett-Smith were among the many celebrities in attendance at the Tony Awards last night in NYC to highlight folks doing their thing on Broadway.

Since tonight is Simon Cowell's last night as an American Idol judge, his ex Terri Seymour thought she might ask him to reflect back on the last nine years of his life to come up with the best and worst moments of the show for him.

Simon reveals that his favorite performance on the show to date was Fantasia, back in season 3, when she sang Summertime.

Aw, sweet. And the worst?

Simon says: "I think Clay Aiken singing Grease with red leather jacket. Yes, I think that was a low point."

Yeah, no argument from this corner! That was pretty HOrrific!

But tonight isn't only about Simon leaving. It's also about a new Idol being crowned Paula Abdul returning!

Simon mentions that he is very excited to see his friend again and he has nothing but kind words for her has she embarks on her own new show for CBS:

"I sent her a note saying I was actually pleased that somebody has built a show around her. It proves her star power and Paula is a survivor. She's much smarter than people know. What I said is, and I literally mean this, I would welcome her on any of my shows. Anytime."

We bet Paula could handle both Got To Dance and The X Factor! Don't count her out Simon!

Should be an emotional night on Idol tonight. Are U sad to see Simon go?

Paula Abdul has some money coming in with a great new day job!

Abdrool has been tapped to be a judge on a brand-new reality dancing show ripped from the UK. Called Got to Dance, the all-ages, all-genres dance competition will air on CBS come this fall and Paula will be the show's lead judge as well as the show's executive producer!

Take that American Idol! Now she is the Simon of her own series.

But speaking of Simon - how will this affect her role in the new X Factor? Paula care to dribble comment!

The American Idol producers are being smart about keeping the finale's performers under wraps. Honestly, it's most likely the only reason anyone will want to tune in to this season's snooze fest closer.

But sources are saying that former coo-coo-doodle-do judge Paula Abdul will make a special appearance as part of a planned farewell segment to Simon Cowell.

We hope, hope, hope this happens! We couldn't imagine a better way to add some crazy to a lackluster season!

In order for her to join Simon Cowell's new X Factor, Paula Abdul is demanding a $3 million advance from the mogul.

“Paula really wants to reunite with Simon on his new show next year,” claims a source. “But she thinks he needs to either put up – or shut up!”

The two “have discussed reteaming, but Paula feels Simon needs to commit financially.”
